Covid-19: Over 60 per cent containment zones in Prayagraj city area

PRAYAGRAJ: Prayagraj continues to have double the number of containment zones than the combined tally of rest three districts of the range as the tally of coronavirus cases in the Sangam City crossed the 9,000 mark on Sunday.
Ironically, around 62 per cent containment zones are located in Sangam city’s urban pokcets compared to trans Ganga and Yamuna areas reflecting the fact that more Covid-19 cases were reported in city areas. Ironically, a total of 1,585 Covid-19 cases were detected in Sangam City in last five days alone ( From August 25 to 29) and more than 63 per cent of cases surfaced in urban and semi urban pockets leaving the officials of the health department puzzled.
Subsequently, the number of containment zones in Prayagraj district has too crossed 2000 mark and are more than combined tally of Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur, the remaining three districts in the range. As per statistics revealed by the health department on Sunday, Prayagraj district has 2100 containment zones, followed by Fatehpur (429) Kaushambi (248), and Pratapgarh (141). In Prayagraj district, around 67 per cent of total 2100 containment zones are in urban and semi-urban areas and rest in trans-Ganga and Yamuna areas.
Additional director, health, Dr Sudhakar Pandey told TOI, “ With the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Prayagraj district, the number of containment zones in Sangam City is also increasing simultaneously”.
He added that the tally of the Covid-19 cases in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh and Kaushambi districts has crossed 9,062, 1,773 and 910 mark respectively and as a result, the number of containment zones has also increased in these districts.
Currently, a total of 1298 containment zones are located in city and rest are in trans-Ganga and Yamuna areas. Through the recovery per centage of Prayagraj district has once again improved and reached 72 per cent, focus has been made to collect more and more samples from villages, blocks and urban areas for testing.
A total of 6564 Covid patients got cured and were discharged from hospitals or completed home isolation in Prayagraj by Saturday while the figures were 1073 and 673 for Kaushambi and Pratapgarh respectively. However, Prayagraj has reported a total of 148 deaths due to Covid whereas Pratapgarh and Kaushambi reported 28 and 12 deaths respectively so far.

Besides, health department has also set up Covid-19 testing facility units at 12 spots in city where people who have cough, cold, and fever or somehow came in contact with infected people could visit these spots for testing from 10 am to 5 pm.
These 12 spots included urban primary health centre (Daraganj), Nand Kishore Inter college (Dhoomanganj) , ERNY Memorial Inter college (Stanley road) , Majidia Islamia Inter college (Atala), Allahabad Degree college (Kydganj), Allahabad Degree college ( Beniganj), KP Inter college, SJS Public school (Jhunsi), Government Girls Inter college (Phaphamau), Bethnay Convent school (Naini), Ishwar Sharan Inter college ( Om Gayatri Nagar) and High court dispensary -Allahabad.
