Arunachal Pradesh's Covid-19 Tally Rises to 3,877 | Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 caseload rose to 3,877, with 132 more people testing positive for coronavirus, a senior Health department official said. Of the 132 new cases, 31 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 27 from West Kameng, 12 each from Papumpare and Tawang, 10 from East Siang, 8 from Tirap and 7 from East Kameng, the official said.

Chennai streets deserted and shops closed in the state capital as the state observes complete lockdown today.  Tamil Nadu govt ordered that Sundays will be observed as complete lockdown in the state till August 31, in view of COVID-19.

Delhi Again Records Highest Single-day Spike in Cases in August | Delhi recorded 1,954 fresh COVID-19 cases, the city's highest single-day spike here in August till date, taking the tally to over 1.71 lakh, while the death toll from the disease mounted to 4,404, authorities said. This is the highest number of cases in the last nearly 50 days. Fifteen fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Delhi health department.

India, home to 1.3 billion people, is already the world's third-most infected nation with more than 3.5 million cases, behind the US and Brazil.

Telangana reported 2,924 new COVID19 positive cases, 1,638 recoveries and 10 deaths on August 29, taking the total number of cases to 1,23,090 in the state. The total number of cases includes 31,284 active cases, 90,988 recoveries and 818 deaths so far. 

China Reports Nine Imported Coronavirus Cases, No Local Infections for Record 14th Day | Mainland China reported nine new confirmed cases of coronavirus on Saturday, all them imported, the National Health Commission said, meaning there were no locally transmitted infections for a record 14th straight day. The number of imported cases - found in people traveling into the country from overseas - was the same as a day earlier.

Australia, New Zealand Tread Cautiously as Coronavirus Lingers | New coronavirus cases in Australia's state of Victoria returned to the triple digits, while neighbouring New Zealand said it would ease curbs slightly in its largest city, hit by a resurgence of infections. Southeastern Victoria reported 114 new cases, a day after the daily tally fell to 94, its lowest in nearly two months. Its capital, Melbourne, is four weeks into a six-week hard lockdown that authorities have said may ease only gradually.

US Reports Coronavirus Deaths Increase By 978 to 181,143 | The number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus rose by 978 to 181,143 people, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said, reporting a total of 5,890,532 cases, an increase of 44,656 from its previous count. The CDC reported its tally of cases of the respiratory illness known as COVID-19, caused by a new coronavirus, as of 4 p.m. ET on Aug. 28 versus its previous report a day earlier.

Tamil Nadu streets wear a deserted look and shops remain closed in Madurai, as the state observes complete lockdown on Sunday. All Sundays till August 31 to be observed as complete lockdown in the state, in view of rising coronavirus cases.

UPDATE | The total number of samples tested up to 29th August is 4,14,61,636 including 10,55,027 samples tested yesterday, stated the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

With 785 Fresh Cases, Germany's Tally Mounts to 2,41,771 | In Germany the number of confirmed cases has increased by 785 to 241,771, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Sunday. The reported death toll rose by six to 9,295.

The new guidelines are based on feedback received from states and UTs and extensive consultations held with related Central Ministries and Departments, the ministry said in it press release.

Australia to Provide USD 1.48 Million Worth of PPE to Indonesian Military | The Australian government says it will provide 2 million Australian dollars (USD 1.48 million) worth of personal protective equipment to the Indonesian military to assist in that country's fight against COVID-19. The Royal Australian Air Force will deliver surgical gloves, gowns, masks and thermometers as part of existing defence cooperation between the neighbours.

Far-right extremists tried to storm the German parliament building Saturday following a protest against the country’s pandemic restrictions, but were intercepted by police and forcibly removed. The incident occurred after a daylong demonstration by tens of thousands of people opposed to the wearing of masks and other government measures intended to stop the spread of coronavirus. 

With 299 New Infections, South Korea's Tally Mounts to 19,699 | South Korea reported its 17th day of triple-digit rises in coronavirus infections on Sunday, as restrictions on onsite dining at restaurants, pubs and bakeries in the densely populated Seoul area take effect. There were 299 new infections as of Saturday midnight, the slowest daily rise in five days, bringing the national tally to 19,699 cases of the new coronavirus and 323 COVID-19 deaths, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said.

2,427 new COVID cases were detected in Assam, 1,440 discharged. Total cases in the state rise to 1,03,794, including 82,510 recovered patients and 289 deaths. Active cases stand at 20,992, stated the Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
