A double murder has shocked Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. Local police responded to calls from Gautampalli colony on Saturday and reported the crime. Police are now saying that the daughter of the railway official, a student of Class 10, killed her mother and brother.

Police officials revealed that the girl is a national level shooter and led them to the murder weapon herself. Her mental state is unstable, said police. The girl's father, RD Bajpai is posted in Delhi as Executive Director of the Railway Board.

According to investigators, she wrote 'disqualified human' on a glass panel in the washroom. The girl fired the first bullet at the glass before firing a second bullet at her mother, 45-year-old Malini Bajpai and another at her brother Sharad, aged 20. Police officials also found several cuts on her arms. A razor she used to injure herself has also been recovered.

This railway colony in Lucknow's Gautampalli is not far from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's official residence. Reports of the wife and son of a senior railway official being shot to death first came to light at around 3.30 pm on Saturday.

Lucknow Police Commissioner Sujeet Pandey told media outlets confirmed that both victims were shot dead inside their own homes where their bodies were found. He further added that the son's body was found alongside his mother's lying on one of the beds.

Police Commissioner Sujeet Pandey added that the girl is in depression and will be sent to a juvenile home. Her father is on his way to Lucknow and she was questioned in the presence of a DCP-rank police officer along with her own grandfather.

Domestic workers told the police that the family had breakfast together on Saturday morning and went to sleep. Six teams of officers who solved the case within four hours found no signs of forced entry.

The girl also told the police that she woke up after breakfast and loaded the gun with five bullets, three of which she fired. Her brother was reportedly shot in the head.
