9 movies to watch if you liked Lootcase, on Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar and more

From The Lovebirds to Chopsticks, here's what you need to check out if you enjoyed the recent Disney+ Hotstar release

Kunal Kemmu’s recently released movie Lootcase was an entertaining, mad-cap, classic Bollywood action comedy that provided a much-needed escape from the hellscape of 2020. It revolved around a money-filled suitcase that gets accidentally discovered by Nandan (Kemmu), who has no idea who it originally belongs to but decides to keep the money for himself. Soon, the suitcase’s original owner and other dangerous people who want it for themselves, come looking for it at Nandan’s doorstep and chaos reigns supreme.

If you liked this one, then here are some other titles that you can stream online right now or mark them for your upcoming movie night.

Choked (2020)

While not as overtly funny as Lootcase, this Anurag Kashyap film is darkly funny in its own right and shares a similar premise as the Kunal Kemmu-starrer. Set against the backdrop of the 2016 demonetisation of Indian banknotes, this film revolves around a bank cashier (Saiyami Kher) whose life changes after she discovers a stash of cash hidden in the plumbing of her kitchen.

Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani) and Leilani (Issa Rae) are a couple who have been in a long term relationship but are now drifting apart. Kaalakaandi (2017)

This dark comedy, starring Saif Ali Khan and Shobhita Dhulipala, is about a man who discovers that he has late-stage stomach cancer and doesn’t have too long to live. So he decides to throw caution to the wind and live his remaining life to the fullest. Like Lootcase, there are multiple characters whose stories get directly affected by the actions of the main character. This movie, from the creator of Delhi Belly, is twisted, dark and funny.

Go Goa Gone (2013)

Admittedly, there's little this movie has in common with Lootcase, aside form Kunal Kemmu and people being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But this underrated comedy, from creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, needs no reason for a re-watch. The film revolves around three friends whose trip to Goa turns deadly as they realise that they are now stranded on an isolated island and are being chased by flesh-eating zombies. The film also has Saif Ali Khan playing a Russian zombie slayer, in case you needed any more motivation.

We’re The Millers (2013)

He hires a stripper (Jennifer Anniston), a petty thief (Emma Roberts), and an overly enthusiastic teenaged neighbour (Will Poulter) to pose as his family (The Millers) so that nobody suspects them of smuggling drugs at the border. Things, obviously, don’t go exactly as planned for the Millers and it’s all hilarious chaos and action from there.

Ghanchakkar (2013)

Like Lootcase, there’s a suitcase filled with money involved in this one too. The said suitcase is being coveted by a host of dangerous individuals but is in the custody of the seemingly innocent protagonist. In this case, it’s Sanjay (Emraan Hashmi) who has a mysterious suitcase filled with cash hidden somewhere around him from a heist that he pulled with two other gangsters but has no memory of because of an accident that gave him retrograde amnesia. What follows is a hilariously wild ride with everyone trying to get Sanjay to remember where the stolen money is hidden, as the stakes rise.

Identity Thief (2013)

If you love comedy movies where the protagonist gets unwittingly caught in the middle of chaos and action, then you should definitely check out this one. Here, Sandy (Jason Bateman) finds out that the woman (Melissa McCarthy) who sold him protection from identity theft is actually a con artist who has stolen his identity. This mishap leads him to Florida, where he and Diana, the con artist, get involved with drugs, bounty hunters, and police car chases.
