It’s still a while before the second-gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 reaches showrooms. But to keep the current version going, Mahindra has reintroduced the automatic variants in the BS6 XUV500. The automatic transmission is offered in all variants apart from the base-spec W5 trim. Here are the prices:

The automatic variants of the XUV500 command a premium of Rs 1.21 lakh over the corresponding manual variants. Mahindra had earlier discontinued the XUV500 automatic while upgrading it to meet BS6 emission norms in April. And nope, you still don’t get an all-wheel drive variant in the XUV500 which was offered in the BS4 era.
The Mahindra XUV500 automatic is powered by the familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that develops 155PS of power and 360Nm of torque. Just like before, it comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that will be sold alongside the 6-speed manual variants. The fuel efficiency figures of this powertrain are yet to be revealed.
Apart from the introduction of an automatic transmission, the XUV500 remains unchanged. You can read more about its features in our first drive review. The Mahindra XUV500 locks horns with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector / Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Gravitas.
