HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should come out with a white paper on the budget spent so far to combat coronavirus in Telangana, said state Congress leaders.
Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and former minister Md Ali Shabbir on Saturday visited area hospitals in Kamareddy and Medak districts, and said 172 posts of doctors, nurses and staff were lying vacant.
Bhatti-led delegation has been touring the area and hospitals in all the districts as part of Congress party’s decision to exert pressure on the KCR-government to improve its performance on controlling spread of coronavirus and extend better treatment to Covid-19 patients by upgrading infrastructure in government hospitals.
“The agitation for Telangana statehood was launched demanding jobs for local youth. The purpose of achieving statehood is lost as thousands of vacancies are lying vacant in area and district hospitals, primary health centres in the state six years after TRS came to power,” Bhatti said.
After their visit to Kamareddy hospital, he said the previous Congress government had upgraded it to a 100-bed bed hospital in 1999 itself. The TRS-government has failed to upgrade the infrastructure and increase the number of beds despite it becoming the district hospital, he said.
"KCR is responsible for the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the state. Despite the Congress repeatedly making suggestions to keep under check the spread of Covid-19, KCR’s ego has not allowed him to take opposition parties into confidence. As a result, coronavirus has spread to alarming levels in the state,” Bhatti said.
