Rajasthan: 60 bovines being transported to MP rescued, 4 held

KOTA: In a routine checking outside Bakani police station of Jhalawar district, the police team on Thursday night rescued 60 bovines including cows, calves and oxen packed in a container bearing Uttar Pradesh number plate.
The cattle were being taken from Bhilwara district to Nagda in Madhya Pradesh allegedly for ‘slaughter’, however, six of them were found dead. Four persons, all hailing from Mandsour district in Madhya Pradesh, were booked under sections of Bovine Act. They were produced before the court on Friday that ordered to send them to five-day police remand.
Jhalawar SP Kiran Kang Sidhu said that a police team led by Bakani police station SHO Mansiram was conducting routine checking of the vehicles in front of Bakani police station on Thursday night. On suspicion, they stopped a container bearing UP number plate. On search, 60 bovines with their legs and head tied were rescued. However, six of them including five oxen and a cow were found dead, she said.
The rescued bovines were sent to cow shelter and the six dead bovines were sent for postmortem, she said.
Four persons, identified as Idris Mewati (32), Fariad (21), Raheem (32) and Niyaju (25), all residents of Mandsour district in MP, were arrested and booked under sections of Bovine Act, she said.
The four accused were on Friday produced before the court that ordered to hand them over to police for fiveday remand for interrogation, SHO at Bakani police station Mansiram said.
In preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they had loaded the bovines from Banjaro ka Dera in Bhilwara district and were transporting them to Nagda in MP for ‘slaughter’ purpose, he said.
