Ghaziabad: Two land parcels have been identified for a 100-bed government hospital in trans-Hindon area. The plots are in Vasundhara and belong to the Uttar Pradesh Housing Board. The state health department has now started the process to buy the land.
“A team of officials from the health department had recently conducted land survey in Vasundhara for the government hospital and it has selected land parcels in Vasundhara Sector 6 and Sector 3,” said Ajay Shankar Pandey, district magistrate.
“In Vasundhara Sector 6, a 7,492 sqm plot has been selected and a 5,232 sqm plot has been earmarked in Sector 3 for doctors’ quarters. The UP Housing Board, which is the custodian of the land, has been asked to initiate the process for handing over the land at a concessional rate,” Pandey said.
In 2018, Ghaziabad MP VK Singh had requested chief minister Yogi Adityanath for a government hospital to cater to the 10 lakh people in trans-Hindon areas.
“The chief minister had instructed the DG health to conduct a survey of land and now it has been finalised,” said UB Garg from Vasundhara Vikas Samiti.
“The Covid situation might have played a role in expediting the process. Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Agarwal had also written to the chief minister and had suggested that a part of Mansarovar Bhawan be converted into a hospital,” Garg added.
A housing board official said that the market rate of 7,492 sqm in Vasundhara Sector 6 has been pegged at Rs 82.82 crore and the 5,232 sqm land in Sector 3 could cost Rs 57.43 crore. “We have been asked to send the cost estimate to the state government at a concessional rate, which we are in the process of sending,” the official said. A health department official said that once the estimate is sent and the land transferred to the health department, the construction will start. “As of now, it is going to be a 100-bed multispeciality hospital,” an official from the health department said.
