Representative imagePATHANKOT: Even ten days after a kala kachha gang had struck at the house of ‘bua’ of former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, police are still clueless about the goons of the gang and are groping in dark to catch hold of them.
Superintendent of police, Prabhjot Singh Virk told TOI on Saturday “The investigation is going on, we have taken technical assistance to arrest the kala kachha gang members and have also sent various police parties to trace and nab them”.
He informed that on the intervening night of August 19/20, members of a kala kachha gang had attacked the house of a contractor Ashok Kumar and had attacked him and his family members, many of them were sleeping on the rooftop of their house, in Thariyal village near Madhopur.
Ashok Kumar, 58, ‘fufa’ of Raina had died in the incident while his wife Asha Devi, 55, mother Satya Devi, 80, sons Kaushal Kumar, 30, and Apin Kumar, 22 had sustained injuries. Asha Devi was still admitted in a private hospital in Pathankot.
Dr Avtar Singh, managing director, Amandeep Hospital informed that a total four relatives of Raina’s family were admitted in the hospital on August 20. He said two members of the family were discharged on Friday while the condition of the other two members including Asha Devi and Kaushal Kumar were critical since both of them had received head injuries.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vice-captain, Suresh Raina, who in recent past had announced his retirement from the international cricketer is the highest scorer for CSK in the IPL. Raina who had gone to UAE to participate in the IPL 2020 scheduled to begin on September 19 returned back to India on Saturday due to personal reasons and would miss the IPL 2020.
Sources informed that the goons had attacked Raina’s relatives with blunt iron objects and baseball bats and snatched the earrings of Satya Devi.
