India Corona cases: A total of 33,10,235 coronavirus cases have been reported in the country so far
New Delhi: India has once again seen a record daily rise in coronavirus cases with 77,266 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total count to 33,87,500, according to data from the Union Health Ministry this morning.
An additional 1,057 new deaths brought the overall death count to 61,529.
India has the third-highest number of virus infections in the world, after the United States and Brazil.
25,83,948 patients have recovered from the infection in the country, taking the recovery rate to 76.27 per cent. Maharashtra remains the hardest-hit state in the pandemic, accounting for 7,33,568 cases.
The coronavirus pandemic has killed over 8.31 lakh people globally since it emerged in China late last year. Over 2.44 crore people have been infected with the novel coronavirus.
The US is by far the hardest-hit country in the world in terms of both number of cases and deaths. The country passed the grim milestone of 1,80,000 coronavirus deaths on Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University's real-time tracker.

Odisha's COVID-19 Tally Crosses 90,000-Mark, Death Count Mounts To 448Odisha's COVID-19 tally on Thursday crossed the 90,000-mark with the highest single-day spike of 3,384 fresh cases, while the death count rose to 448 as seven more patients died due to the disease, a health department official said.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the state now stands at 90,986, he said.
The new cases were reported from all the 30 districts, while the fatalities were registered in four.

Andhra Pradesh reports 10,621 new cases of COVID-19, 92 deaths in last 24 hours
Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours reported 92 deaths and 10,621 new cases of COVID-19.
The total number of COVID19 cases in the state is now 3,93,090 including 94,209 active cases, 2,95,248 recoveries and 3,633 deaths, as per media bulletin released by state COVID nodal officer.
In the last 24 hours, 61,300 samples were tested in the state. 10,621 of them are detected COVID positive. With this, total cases in the state increase to 3,93,090. Of them; 94,209 are active.
Assam's COVID-19 tally mounts to 98,807
Assam reported 2,036 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, pushing the tally to 98,807, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The state's coronavirus deaths climbed to 278 with four fatalities since Wednesday, he said.
The deaths were reported from Baksa, Dibrugarh, Darrang and Kamrup Metropolitan districts. Of the new infections, 481 were recorded in Kamrup Metropolitan, 146 in Jorhat, 129 in Dibrugarh and 110 in Hailakandi, he said.
Assam now has 19,219 active cases, while 79,307 people have recovered from the disease so far. The state has conducted 21,06,836 tests thus far, the minister said.
UP Minister tests positive for COVID-19
Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Thursday tested positive for coronavirus. The Minister said on Twitter that he had initial symptoms for the virus following which he got himself tested.
"On getting the initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine and with the advice of doctors, I have isolated myself at home. I request that all of you, who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please get yourself checked," Singh said in a roughly translated tweeted.
Jammu and Kashmir, nine states account for 89% of COVID-19 deaths in last two weeks, urged to proactively limit transmission
Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Thursday held video conference with the chief secretaries and health secretaries of nine states and one union territory and urged them to proactively limit COVID transmission and keep the mortality below one per cent.
The states which attended the meeting were Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Maharashtra has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country followed by Tamil Nadu. These nine states and Jammu and Kashmir account for 89 per cent of deaths of the total fatalities in the country in the last two weeks.
