Union minister urges Odisha CM for exemption of school fees

BHUBANESWAR: Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Union minister of state for MSME, on Thursday urged chief minister Naveen Patnaik for exemption of school fees of wards of Corona warriors.
He also requested Naveen for relaxation of 50 per cent of school fees for the remaining students, who are not children of Corona warriors. "Government should give full exemption of hostel fees during the period of the closure of hostels in all educational institutions," stated the Union minister in his letter.
Sarangi said he has been receiving petitions from the people of Odisha regarding the continued financial hardships being faced by the students in meeting their educational requirements during this difficult time.
"There is a lurking fear that many students from poor financial background may discontinue their education as covid-19 has adversely impacted the livelihood of their parents making their conditions truly indigent," read the letter.
He said the government should stand firm by the side of the people during this unprecedented time and also recognise the contribution of the corona warriors in dealing with this crisis.
"Considering the need to help the students continue in their educational pursuits in larger public interest, I request you to kindly consider these three points," Sarangi said in his letter to Naveen.
