A 30-Year Old Nissan 240SX With 74,000 Miles Was Just Sold For $32,750

A 1990 Nissan 240SX recently sold for $32,750 during an online auction in the U.S., suggesting that it has become the latest Japanese sports car to reach collectotable status.

The exterior of this 240SX is finished in Cherry Red Pearl and retains the factory 15-inch wheels with Bridgestone Turanza QL10 tires. It also sports retractable headlights, a removable pop-up sunroof, power antenna, and dual tailpipes. There are some paint blemishes across the exterior and a crack in the windshield, but that clearly didn’t dissuade someone from coughing up a lot of money to buy it.

Inside, the sports car is trimmed in gray cloth with a matching glove box lid, door panels, and carpeting. There’s also a three-spoke steering wheel and behind it, an instrument panel with an odometer reading just over 74,000 miles (~119,000 km).

Jalopnik believes one reason why the 240SX sold for so much comes down to its popularity in the drifting world. When it first landed in the United States, owners frequently engine swapped their 240SXs and took them out drifting.

The fact that the car was listed on Bring A Trailer likely also contributed to its high sales price as cars listed at the online auction site often sell for eye-watering sums and this Nissan was no different.

Powering the Japanese coupe is a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four cylinder that produces 140 hp at 5,600 rpm and is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.
