Saint Lucia eases COVID-19 related travel restrictions

The island of Saint Lucia has decided to ease COVID-19 related travel restrictions even further as the summer season draws to an end on the Caribbean island. According to the latest ease of restrictions, visitors are now permitted to stay in up to two COVID- certified properties for the duration of their stay, which will offer varied experiences across the island.


Guests staying at COVID-certified properties will also be allowed to take part in various water-based activities like scuba diving and sailing, following the protocols put in place at their hotel. Saint Lucia has reported one of the lowest rates of COVID-19 infection across the region, with just 26 cases to date. The government announced further easing of certain restrictions for visitors only after successfully managing the pandemic across the island, and added more ways for guests to enjoy their island holiday.


Dominic Fedee, Minister of Tourism, St Lucia said in a statement that authorities are encouraged by the figures that currently show Saint Lucia is leading the way in the Caribbean region with the lowest number of Covid-19 cases per capita. He mentioned that island authorities are certainly not complacent, and the measures we have helped them to achieve such a positive record.


He said the results will show potential visitors that the responsible approach to re-opening and providing a safe environment for a holiday is a good reason to choose Saint Lucia. He also informed that the island have safely welcomed more than 4,000 visitors to since reopening on July 9. He shared that knowing the positive holiday experience of visitors gives authorities a sense of optimism for the future. He also mentioned that due to the changing nature of the pandemic, the island will continue to closely monitor the situation, based on which decisions would be undertaken similar to the latest ease of restrictions.
