CHANDIGARH:
Punjab recorded 1,746 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, while 37 more people lost their lives in 13 districts of the state.
With 1,746 people tested positive, out of 24,068 samples collected by the health team, the positivity rate was recorded at 4.89%. The overall tally of the state stood at 47,836, while the virus has claimed 1,256 lives till date.
In all, seven people died in Amritsar, while five people each lost their lives in Sangrur, Mohali and Ludhiana. Four people died in
Patiala and two each in Tarn Taran, Pathankot, and
Hoshiarpur. The virus claimed the lives of one person each in Fazilka, Kapurthala, Nawanshahr and Ropar.
As many as 49 people in critical condition are on ventilators, of which 16 were added on Thursday, and 425 are on oxygen support.
Ludhiana contributed the highest of 350 cases, followed by Gurdaspur district which added 210 fresh cases to the state’s tally. In Patiala, 188 people were tested positive, 186 in Jalandhar, 178 in Mohali and 127 in Bathinda.
Reports of as many as 94 people came positive in Hoshiarpur, 74 in Amritsar, 55 in Sangrur, 44 in Faridkot, 36 in Ropar, 31 in Kapurthala, 26 in Mansa, 25 in Pathankot, 22 in Nawanshahr, 21 each in Ferozepur and
Fatehgarh Sahib, 16 in Barnala, nine in Moga and eight in Muktsar.
A total of 741 people were discharged after recovering, taking the figures of patients discharged 30,972. Of them, 153 in Jalandhar, 119 in Patiala, 70 in Amritsar, 68 in Barnala, 50 in Gurdaspur, 45 in Muktsar, 41 in Sangrur and Fazilka, 37 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 35 in Pathankot, 29 in Hoshiarpur, 23 in Mansa, 14 in Nawanshahr, four each in Moga and Faridkot and two each in Bathinda and Tarn Taran.
