Representative imageTHANE: Cops from Thane Nagar police station went an extra mile to help a 27-year-old destitute woman, who delivered a baby on the footpath under a bridge at Thane station.
She had to be rushed to the hospital as the umbilical cord was still attached to the baby.
"One of the passers-by rushed to the police station and alerted our staff about the incident. A team rushed to the scene below the Satis bridge and arranged for an ambulance. They rushed the baby and mother to Shivaji hospital at Kalwa," said a police officer.
Doctors at the hospital attended to her on priority basis and detached the child from the mother by snapping the umbilical cord," added the cop.
