School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan in Erode on Thursday hinted that the seven-year validity of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) may be extended in Tamil Nadu.

“The state government has been holding discussions on extending the validity of TET,” he said to reporters without going into further details.
It has been a long time demand from the teacher’s fraternity to assign permanent validity or at least increase the number of valid years for the TET certificate.
Sengottaiyan spoke to reporters after inaugurating finished and new projects worth about Rs 62.50 lakh, including water tanks and new roads in Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency.
Stating that efforts have been taken to fill up vacancies in libraries, Sengottaiyan said that books are available in government libraries for civil service aspirants and those preparing for competitive exams to study. “Also, private centres have been roped in to provide coaching to those preparing for the exam,” he said.
Terming broadcast of lessons through private television channels and Kalvi channel to be a hit, the Minister said that the government has ensured that students received their books, dress and bags through their respective schools.
He also reiterated that strict action will be initiated against schools collecting high fees in violation of the government orders. “The students, who have completed Class 10 and Class 12 can apply for a transfer certificate online without having to visit the school,” he added.
