Coronavirus Latest News: Supreme Court refuses to entertain PIL to postpone Bihar polls
Stating that COVID-19 cannot be a ground for postponing the Bihar elections, the Supreme Court refused to entertain a PIL seeking to defer the assembly polls till the state is free of the pandemic.

Doctor turns ambulance driver, ferries patient to hospital
Pune:
- A 30-year-old doctor is being hailed as a real "COVID warrior" after he drove an ambulance to ferry a critically ill elderly coronavirus patient to a hospital from a care centre here.
- Dr Ranjeet Nikam said since the driver of the ambulance suddenly fell ill and there was no one to replace him immediately, he decided to step in along with another doctor, Rajendra Rajpurohit, to ensure the patient gets urgent medical attention.
- Nikam took control of the wheel and drove the 71-year -old patient in the ambulance to a hospital after his oxygen saturation level dipped at the COVID care centre where he was undergoing treatment.
- The patient was under Nikam's watch at the COVID care centre set up in the Marketyard area.

Telangana reports 2.9K Covid-19 cases, recovery remains lower than national average
- Telangana on Friday reported 2,932 Covid-19 positive cases, pushing the state’s tally to 1,17,415 cases.
- The state said males accounted for more than 64% of the infected people.

US surpasses 180,000 virus deaths: Johns Hopkins
- The United States passed the grim milestone of 180,000 coronavirus deaths Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University's real-time tracker.
- The US added 931 new virus deaths in 24 hours, the Baltimore-based university reported at 8:30 pm (0030 GMT Friday), bringing the total death toll to 180,527.

- The University of Washington on Thursday expanded the forecast of its widely cited model, projecting 317,697 deaths in the United States by Dec. 1 due to the COVID-19 pandemic as cases climb in many states.
- The new forecast, by the university's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) reflects an increase of about 8,000 deaths from its previous forecast.

- The Chinese government's top diplomat, State Councillor Wang Yi, said on Thursday it was unclear whether the corona virus had first originated in China, casting doubt on the views of health experts and foreign governments.
- Speaking during a visit to Norway, Wang said that, while China was the first country to report the existence of the virus to the World Health Organisation, "it does not mean that the virus originated in China".
