After the highest number of 77,266 new cases of COVID-19 in India in a single day, infection cases in the country increased to 33,87,500. As of Friday, 25,83,948 people have become infection-free.

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry at eight in the morning, after the death of 1,057 more people in the last 24 hours, the death toll rose to 61,529.

The ministry said that the recovery rate of patients in the country is 76.28 percent and the death rate has come down to 1.82 percent. According to the data, 7,42,023 patients are now being treated in the country, which is 21.990 percent of the total cases. On August 7, COVID-19 cases in India crossed 20 lakhs, and on 23 August cases crossed 3 million.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3,94,77,848 samples were tested in the country till August 27, of which 9,1,338 samples were tested on Thursday.
