Representative imageJAMMU: A civilian was injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire twice on Friday by resorting to unprovoked firing and intense mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
The first breach of truce came around 11.30am along the LoC in Poonch’s Balakote sector, to which the Indian Army effectively retaliated. Again around 5.45pm, Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked firing and mortar shelling targeting residential areas along the LoC in Upper Gohlad in Poonch’s Mendhar sector. In the cross-border fire exchange, Mendhar resident Wajid Ali sustained injuries, Poonch SSP Ramesh Angral said.
“The injured was immediately shifted to Mendhar hospital for treatment,” the SSP said, adding that more details on the man’s condition were awaited.
