England vs Pakistan (ENG vs PAK) 1st T20 Live Cricket Score Updates: England are batting first in the 1st T20I vs Pakistan. They were 131/6 after 16.1 overs when rain came down to halt play.
Jonny Bairstow (2) fell in the first over. David Malan was run out for 23 in the 10th over, just as Tom Banton started to attack at the other end. Banton, who was dropped on 5, went on to score his maiden T20I fifty before falling for 71. Eoin Morgan (14) was also out soon after, as England failed to cash in on the momentum they picked in the middle overs.
The covers are still on but the rain has decreased in intensity in the past few minutes. The umpires are on the field with umbrellas. On another note, we have started to lose overs now. We are set to not have a 40-over match now. Remains to be seen if Pakistan are straightaway given a revised target to chase when play resumes.
It had been brewing for a while. Rain had been forecast for today. And it has come down now 'quite hard', says David Lloyd. The covers are rushed on. The players troop off. England 131/6 after 16.1 overs at this juncture.
And there's the sixth wicket as Imad Wasim bowls the 16th over. Rizwan at it again. Lewis Gregory fails to impress with the bat. He is stumped for 2. Rizwan on fire! Imad Wasim gets a second wicket. Chris Jordan, returning to the team after his surgery, is in at 8 with the home team in a spot of bother in these last overs. ENG 126/6 after 16
Moeen Ali is out for 8. Rizwan grabs the catch on with a diving second attempt. Pakistan are running through the opposition now, grabbing back the momentum after England seemed to be running away with it in the middle overs. Lewis Gregory is in at 7, with England being stretched by the Pakistan spinners. Shadab Khan gets a second important wicket. ENG 121/5 after 15
Iftikhar Ahmed bowls the 14th over. Moeen Ali strokes him for a boundary through the covers. But the bowler has the last laugh in the over. Gets Morgan plumb LBW with his last ball as Morgan goes for the sweep and misses. Iftikhar makes up for the Banton dropped catch with this prized wicket. Morgan falls for 14. ENG 118/4 after 14
Tom Banton, who was putting Pakistan to the sword, is out. Shadab Khan induces a tope edge off him and he goes for 71 off 42 balls. Was dropped as early in the 2nd over of the match. Banton, taking a while to play himself in, has given England a great platform for the last 7 overs. Moeen Ali is in at 5. ENG 111/3 after 13
Banton is making Pakistan pay for that early dropped catch. Bringing out an array of shots - including the scoop over the keeper's head for four - to put Pakistan to the sword. Scoops Haris Rauf for a six! Atrocious hitting from the youngster. Another expensive over as England go into the three-digit mark in the 12th over. ENG 107/2 after 12
Eoin Morgan, in at 4, plays a reverse sweep for four off his first ball. Imad Wasim bowls the 11th over. Banton pushes for a single to bring up his 50. His first T20I fifty. Morgan cuts loose against Wasim as well. Six! Pulled for a maximum. And Banton follows suit at the other end. A six creamed over long on. 15 runs come off the Imad Wasim over. England, starting to hit their stride, now 94/2 after 11 overs
Six! Six! Banton is going bonkers! The first one just out of reach of long on, the second one clattered into the stands. Was on 36 before this over, is suddenly on the brink of a 50. But then there is a huge comedy of errors as both Malan and Banton find themselves at the same end. Malan is run out for 23. ENG 74/2 after 9.3
Shadab Khan into the attack in the 8th over. Banton seizes the moment. Slog sweeps for a six. The first six in the match. Shadab looks to vary his pace to throw the batsmen off. Just three more singles in the over. Haris Rauf to continue his medium pace in the 9th over. And England finally get the big over they wanted. 13 runs from the over. The 50 partnership comes up between these two as well. ENG 62/1 after 9
Pakistan have been on top for the Powerplay overs. They go to Haris Rauf for the 7th over, with both batsmen - Malan more than Banton - not finding the sweet spot on their bats so far. Pakistan go for an LBW review against Malan. Singles now more available with the field more spread out. Six runs from the over with England still not finding any aggressive rhythm. ENG 40/1 after 7
It has been brought to the umpires' attention that Amir inadverdently applied saliva on the ball in his last over. They have a talk with the Pakistan captain and Amir, Hafeez also coming up to join the chat. The ball is sanitised and no action is taken against Amir, who is back to bowl the 6th over. Malan tries to swing big but is outfoxed by Amir's slower ball too. Banton has better fortune, crashes a pull for four to deep midwicket. ENG 34/1 after 6
Shaheen Afridi bowls the fourth over. Malan gets his four and just the second four of the innings with a pull to backward square leg. Shaheen comes back well to get the better of Malan with an yorker and an off cutter that deceives the batsman. ENG 25/1 after 5
Mohammad Amir enters the attack, replacing Shaheen, who deserved a wicket in his last over. Another excellent over from another Pakistan bowler. Malan is troubled by some extra bounce generated by Amir. ENG 19/1 after4
Imad Wasim continues in the 3rd over. Malan gets his first runs with a nudge down to long on. Banton attacks the spinner, gets a top edge with a sweep that runs down for three runs. The two left-arm bowlers have kept it very tight in these first few overs. ENG 15/1 after 3
The dropped catch that cost Shaheen Banton's wicket in the 2nd over:
David Malan is in at 3, joining Tom Banton, who played just 1 ball for 1 run in the first over. Shaheen Afridi bowls the 2nd over. Banton does not enjoy his time against left arm pacers. Four dot balls to start the over. Banton connects with the fifth ball. Tucked off the pads to fine leg for the first four of the match. A dolly of a catch dropped by Iftikhar at first slip to give a life to Banton. ENG 7/1 after 2
Wicket in the first over! And its the wicket of the danger man Bairstow. Imad Wasim strikes in the first over. Bairstow goes caught and bowled by Wasim for 2. ENG 3/1 after 0.5

England to bat first in the 1st T20I. Babar Azam says the conditions have inflienced his decision. With the rain threat hanging about, the side chasing will have a definite advantage in terms of DLS scores if it comes to that.
