The Indian rose half a per cent onn Thursday ahead of the expiry of August series derivative contracts.

The S&P BSE Senesx was up 200 points at 39,260 levels, and the Nifty50 index reclaimed the crucial psychological level of 11,600. IndusInd Bank (up 2%) was the top Sensex gainer, followed by HDFC (up 1%).

tanked 11 per cent in early deals after the company said that the government plans to sell as much as 15 per cent stake in the company through a public offering of shares. READ MORE

The trend among Nifty sectoral indices was positive, led by Nifty Bank index, up 0.9 per cent.

The broader tracked the benchmarks' gain, with the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices trading 0.6 per cent higher, each.

Results today

A total of 51 companies including NMDC, and Avanti Feeds are scheduled to announce their June quarter results today.
