CHENNAI: An actor who has performed in a web series and some short films has been arrested for making a hoax bomb call to a star hotel in Teynampet on Wednesday.
Shooting of an web series was under way at the hotel. Mahesh, the manager of the firm making the web series, had asked Kennedy John Gangadharan to meet him at the hotel.
A resident of Puzhal, Kennedy was waiting at the hotel for more than an hour when the manager informed him that the shoot has been cancelled and asked him to leave. Frustrated, Kennedy made a hoax bomb call to the hotel at 10.30am. He also called up the police control room and informed that a bomb has been planted at the hotel and it would go off in a few minutes. Based on the alert, a bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene with sniffer dog Rita. An hour-long search revealed that the call was hoax.
The Teynampet police registered a case and identified the caller to be Kennedy. Kennedy confessed to having made the call as he was upset over the shoot being cancelled. He is being questioned.
