Prisons across Queensland have been put into lockdown after an officer who worked at the state's corrective services training centre tested positive for COVID-19.

The officer worked at the Queensland Corrective Services Academy on Friday and returned the positive case on Wednesday, a QCS spokesperson said in a statement.

"All correctional facilities in Queensland will remain on full lockdown this morning to allow for briefings and further advice from Queensland Health," they said.

A number of trainees the officer interacted with at the academy have reportedly since been deployed to other prisons.

It remains unclear whether the QCS officer was the single new case, a Forest Lake resident who was a known contact of another case, announced by health authorities on Wednesday.

That case took the number linked to a cluster at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol to 11. Queensland Health has been contacted for comment.
