JAIPUR: Broken roads and choked drains have become a major problem for people of Walled City this monsoon.
Residents have complained that even a bout of shower makes it difficult for them to walk on roads.
Chandi ki Taksaal resident Amita Lalwani said, “Our area is situated on a slope and water accumulates on the road. Due to big waterlogged craters on the roads, riding becomes dangerous.”
Recently, water pipelines were laid down in many areas of Walled City but the road wasn’t repaired.
“First, they construct a road, then they dig it up again and lay pipelines and then leave it as it is. It is creating a major issue in our locality and although we have complained to municipality, no steps have been taken,” said Kamlesh Saini, resident of Kanwar Nagar.
Upgrade of sewage pipelines has been a long-standing demand of residents of Walled City. It was upgraded around five decades ago and although the administration had made many plans to upgrade the sewage lines with rise in population, it has never been implemented.
Haldiyon ka Raasta resident Lokesh Godha said, “With heavy rainfall, water gets accumulated on the roads and neither the drainage nor the sewer lines have the capacity to handle such volumes of water. Sewage pipes often break and dirty water flows on the roads.”
