Ahmedabad: Four injured as bus falls into pit

AHMEDABAD: A bus of Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) fell into a roadside pit near Vaishnodevi circle on Thursday when the driver lost control over the steering and the brakes failed. No casualty was reported in the incident.
Three passengers suffered injuries and nearly 50 others were rescued when the bus was in a sea-saw like condition as half of it was on road and rest was in a pit filled with rain water.
The incident took place when bus number 501 between Vasna and Chandkheda areas was passing from Vaishnodevi circle and it's brakes got failed suddenly. Driver Lalji Desai tried to move the bus away from the traffic during which it fell in the pit.
Locals and cops deployed on Vaishnodevi circle ran towards the accident site and rescued the passengers. Three persons who suffered injuries were taken to Sola Civil hospital where their condition is said to be stable.
A passenger who was in the bus said before reporters that this exposed the lackadaisical approach of the civic body which did not bother to conduct maintenance of buses.
