Telangana health minister Eatala Rajender (Photo credit: @Eatala_Rajender)HYDERABAD: After three hours of meeting between doctors' associations, paramedical staff associations and the state health authorities, Telangana health minister Eatala Rajender assured the health workers that special treatment would be provided to the doctors, paramedical staff and their family members at NIMS, TIMS and Gandhi Hospital.
The announcement came after healthcare workers and doctors staged protests and held candle-light vigil for their colleagues who succumbed in line of duty. The healthcare staff has been upset that the state government did not announce any suppor to the family member and was not providing free treatment to family members of staff who had contracted Covid-19. Under the circumstance, they had to pay huge amounts to get them treated.
A 50 bedded facility will be set up exclusively in NIMS to ensure that health ate staffers will be provided emergency care there. The minister also assured to speak to the chief minister about the demand of ex gratia to the medical personnel who died while providing corona treatment.
"The Minister who promised to give all the promotions that should come legally in the matter of promotions. The minister said the proposals from the department heads of various departments would be brought forward without delay and no one would be harmed and a permanent solution would be found. During the discussions, the Minister had a lengthy discussion on various issues raised by the doctors and associations and responded positively to most of the issues raised by them," read an official statement from the ministers office.
