11-year-old raped in Greater Noida, doctors say she is critical

GREATER NOIDA: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man when she had gone to relieve herself in the bushes near her home in the Ecotech 3 area on Tuesday afternoon. The girl has been admitted to the District Hospital in Sector 30 and doctors said her condition was critical.
The assault comes a day after the mutilated body of a 17-year-old girl was found in a driedup pond near her village in Lakhimpur Kheri. An autopsy revealed that the girl had been raped. Her family said she had left home to fill up a scholarship form in a neighbouring town.
Although the medical reports of the Noida girl are awaited, doctors treating her suspect more than one person may have raped her. The girl’s parents, who stay in a slum near Ecotech 3, said the accused dragged the girl to a field 3km away and raped her. They, too, alleged that their daughter had been gangraped. The girl, according to her parents, was bleeding from her private parts and her clothes were torn when she returned home after an hour.
