HYDERABAD: There will be no Muharram procession in the city, the Telangana high court said on Wednesday. The Muharram rituals inside a masjid were, however, allowed.
Justice T Vinod Kumar cited Supreme Court judgment while dismissing a petition by Fathima Sevadal Society seeking directions to Hyderabad police commissioner to accord permission to carry out the procession with an elephant on August 31.
The HC also refused to hear another petition seeking permission to carry the alam by an individual as far as Chadarghat under police protection till the plea was numbered and posted for hearing.
