Representative imageALWAR: The state government has ordered the withdrawal of cases registered against people during the Dalit agitation on April 2, 2018 in Alwar district.
Dalits had gone on a rampage in protest against the Supreme Court order amending the SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act.
Special secretary (home) Rajendra Kumar Saini issued the order on August 14. Following the order, applications were filed in ADJ court (No-1) in Alwar which ordered for the withdrawal of cases.
Incidents of stone pelting, arson and firing were reported under NEB police station during the agitation in Alwar district. Police had to fire in the air and lob teargas shells to disperse the crowd. The agitators set ablaze Kherthal police station.
Two cases were filed in NEB police station against about 500 people for obstruction of government work, damage to government property, and assault on police etc. Police also recorded statements of hundreds of people.
Additional public prosecutor Bhupendra Singh Shekhawat said that the court had accepted the application to withdraw two cases lodged in NEB police station during the Dalit agitation. About half a dozen police personnel were also injured in the violent mob attack on the NEB Police station.
