Representative ImageLUCKNOW: A gang of fraudsters was busted by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) sleuths who arrested six accused on Wednesday for duping retired government employees by offering to facilitate bonus on insurance policy, life time health insurance and doubling the money invested in different schemes.
Those arrested were Abhinav Saxena, his wife Priya Saxena, sister Neha, all of Indira Nagar, Ved Prakash Dwivedi of Chinhat, Mohammed Arman of Barabanki and Meenakshi Bharti of Gangasagar Apartments in Hazratganj.
The STF sleuths recovered 11 mobile phones, one ATM card, 3 cheque books, 3 passbooks, a four wheeler and several documents from them. All of them were arrested from near Meena Bakery in Indira Nagar.
The STF started probe after a retired senior health official C B Chaurasiya of Indira Nagar was duped of Rs 40 lakh and retired police official Ranjeet Singh Bora lost Rs 4 lakh and they filed police complaint.
Additional superintendent of police, STF, Vishal Vikram said Abhinav is the kingpin and mastermind of the gang. His sister Neha, who works with a private insurance company, wife Priya and their acquaintance Meenakshi used to trap retired officials by promising them double monetary benefit or life time health insurance.
“The duped their victims by using fake scheme names associated with private and PSU banks. Once they got the money or cheque from a customer they used to deposit it in their account,” the ASP said.
