Chandigarh: Friend kills 14-year-old over tiff while playing, held

CHANDIGARH: A minor fight between two 14-year-old friends while playing ended with one of them stabbing the other to death with a knife while the grandmother of the victim watched helplessly from the rooftop of her house in Hallomajra on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Naitik,14, a resident of Hallomajra.
Police said the two were playing when the accused fell down around 11am, leading to the fight. In a fit of anger, the accused went to his house, brought a vegetable knife and attacked Naitik on his back. As the victim dropped on the ground in a pool of blood, the accused fled towards a nearby forest area. The victim’s grandmother came down and informed police. A PCR vehicle took the boy to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A police team cordoned off the area and launched a search but failed to find the accused. Cops said they were worried he might harm himself. Later, police caught him from Hallomajra and recovered the knife. The accused was sent to a juvenile home in Sector 25.
Police said only one wound was found on the back of the boy and he might have died of excessive bleeding. The victim’s father works as a carpenter and the deceased was the eldest among two siblings.
