Notwithstanding the threat of contracting coronavirus, hundreds of picnickers flocked beaches and waterfalls in Canacona taking advantage of the opportunity of Ganesh Chaturthi
vacation.

Waterfalls and beaches witnessed a large number of people including Indian tourists, few foreigners and a large number of locals.

Marcus Fernandes who had along with his friends were at a popular waterfall at Canacona said that the last six months have been stressful and life had come to a stop virtually hence they decided to come out and just soak in the atmosphere.

Another youth Alan D’Souza who accompanied him asked, “How long are we going to live in fear. The virus is here to stay till a vaccine is found. There is a risk but we can get infected from any source.”

A young lady Martha said that it is true that the number of cases are increasing each passing day but as the saying goes the virus will not kill you but the fear of dying of the virus will surely kill your spirit.

Goa has seen over 13,300 cases with over 3,000 active cases while 10,000 people have been cured of the virus while nearly 2500 tests are awaited.
