With the pandemic crisis having a disastrous impact on residents and all businesses in the state, Manoj Caculo, president of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), has pitched for Atmanirbhar Goa, and rejection of e-commerce shopping.
Speaking at an event, which was streamed live on Youtube, the president of the industry representative body made a strong pitch for Goans going vocal-local. “The ongoing crisis is going to last. It is best to stop looking to the government for help and support each other.”
Caculo, who has diverse business interest in auto dealership, retail and road works, said that Goans must support each other.
“Stop buying from e-commerce sites, and purchase from Goan retailers,” he said.
Pointing out that the pandemic crisis has affected the state’s economy badly, Caculo also had words of advice to Goans in service – “It is better to talk with your employers and accept pay cuts instead of losing your jobs.”
To the residents who have rented out properties, he advocated a cut
in rentals.
Caculo ended his brief speech by urging Goans to act responsibly by maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks to flatten the
COVID curve.
Caculo’s appearance on Youtube is a part of series where local businessmen and personalities are giving their opinions on simple solutions to overcome the pandemic crisis.
