After the stormy CWC meeting that saw strong attacks on dissenting leaders, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is understood to have spoken to Ghulam Nabi Azad. It is learnt that Rahul Gandhi too spoke to Azad. It is learnt that Sonia called up Azad on Monday evening though details were not available. The timing was significant because earlier, the CWC presided over by her had roundly attacked the group of leaders led by the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha for writing a letter questioning ad-hocism in the party. More telling was the fact that many Congress members accused the dissenting group of doing the BJP's bidding, a charge strongly refuted by the letter writers.
