Since the CBI began investigating Sushant Singh Rajput’s death last week, it has questioned the late star’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani and his house staff multiple times. The agency also recreated the events of June 14, the day Sushant died, at his Bandra residence.
The CBI has made repeated visits to the Waterstone Resorts, where Sushant stayed last year for two months. On Monday, it recorded statements of doctors at Cooper hospital, where Sushant’s postmortem was carried out.
The CBI took over the case after the Supreme Court judgement in Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakarborty’s plea to transfer the FIR in the case from Patna to Mumbai. The Supreme Court also told the Mumbai police to assist the CBI in the probe. The CBI team arrived in Mumbai a day after the top court’s verdict on August 20.
Apart from the CBI case, the Enforcement Directorate has also registered a case against Rhea and her family members. The Mumbai Police has handed over its probe documents to the CBI. It has, however, said it will continue with the inquiry it was conducting into the accidental death report it had filed following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Rhea Chakraborty broke her silence today on the Sushant Singh Rajput case in an interview with India Today.
Rhea Chakraborty adddressed the allegation that she was "living off Sushant Singh Rajput's money" in her interview with India Today. Rhea said that Sushant liked to live like a star and spend money on everyone around him.
"I had a fashion shoot by the clothing trip Shein in Paris. The company sent me the tickets. Sushant thought it was a great idea to make a Euro trip out of this, so he cancelled those tickets -- I have those tickets, in case I now I have to prove everything -- and booked first class tickets, and the rest of the trip he paid for the hotels. He wanted to, and I didn’t have a problem with that. I had a problem with how much he was spending. I thought it was a very expensive trip, but that was how he was.
"Who was I to question that? Even before this trip, he went to Thailand with six of his male friends. He booked a private jet for that trip and spent Rs 70 lakh. So, it was not like he spent the money just on me. He was like that as a person. He loved living like a star. I was not living off Sushant Singh Rajput's money. We were living like a couple," she said.
Rhea Chakraborty, in her interview with India Today, said that Sushant, her brother Showik were her partners in a company called Rhealityx that dealt with artificial intelligence. She also revealed that Sushant named the company after her.
'Showik had a great bonding with Sushant. Even we used to joke that Showik is my 'sautan'. Sushant, Showik and I were partners in a company called Rhealityx, which dealt with artificial intelligence. It was Sushant who named the company after me. To be a partner in the company, one has to pay Rs 33,000. I paid for Showik as he couldn't pay because he didn't have a job. Showik was preparing for CAT exams and was skeptical if he should join us. Sushant insisted Showik to join us in our Europe trip,' Rhea said.
Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend actor Rhea Chakraborty, whom the late star's family accuses of abetment to suicide, opened about Sushant in an interview with India Today. Rhea said that she got to know about Sushant's mental health issues during their Europe trip in October last year. The actor also told India Today that Sushant took a medicine Modafinil without a prescription before taking the flight.
"When we were leaving for Europe, Sushant said that he feel claustrophobic in a flight. When we reached Paris, he didn't leave his room for three days. Before the trip, he said that he was very happy. He had told me that he is very excited for the trip as he will show me his true side during our Europe stay. He will walk on the streets and have fun with me which he couldn't do in India. We were really happy. I was wondering what happened."
Rhea said in the interview that Sushant's health deteriorated after they began staying at a hotel in Italy.
"In Switzerland, he was fine. He was energetic. When we reached Italy, we stayed at a Gothic hotel, which we didn't know at the time of booking. In our room there was a dome like structure, which I didn't like. I asked him that we should change our hotel, but he insisted on staying there. He told me that there was something. I told him that it's a bad dream as I thought people get such ideas in such place. But he insisted on living in that hotel despite me telling him to change it.
"His health deteriorated there and he started having anxiety attacks."When I asked him what is happening, he told me that in 2013, he had a depressive episode and met a psychiatrist called Haresh Shetty. He told me that the same doctor advised him to take Modafinil, he took on the flight. He told me that he was fine after that. After that, now he was feeling more depressed and anxious. Then we cut shot the trip and returned."
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Wednesday registered an FIR against actor Rhea Chakraborty and some others under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The move comes after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) – which is probing a money laundering angle into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and has questioned his girlfriend Chakraborty – referred some evidence to the CBI and the NCB about her alleged links to banned drugs. Chakraborty’s lawyer has vehemently denied the charge.
The NCB has registered the FIR under Sections 28 (punishment for attempts to commit offences), 29 (punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy) and 20-B (produces, manufactures, possesses, sells, purchases, transports, imports inter-State, exports inter-State or uses cannabis, shall be punishable). “Before registering an FIR, we have also taken legal opinion,” an official said.

The CBI on Tuesday summoned two officers of the Mumbai Police in connection with its probe into the abetment to suicide case registered following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The two officers from Bandra police — Inspector Bhushan Belnekar and Sub-Inspector Vaibhav Jagtap — were investigating the case from the day the death came to light on June 14.
A senior Mumbai Police officer said that Belnekar and Jagtap had tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks ago. They have been discharged but asked to remain in quarantine. “They will be able to attend to the summons after a few days following the doctor’s advice,” the officer added.
