Representative image. YAMUNANAGAR: The police have booked a person for allegedly giving life threat over phone calls to Bishan Lal Saini, Radaur constituency MLA of Indian National Congress (INC) in Yamunanagar district.
On the complaint of Saini’s private assistant (PA) Ajay Kumar, a case has been registered against an accused identified as Dalbir Singh of Sadhura village of Radaur block of the district Dalbir under Section 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licenses) of the Arms Act at Radaur police station on Tuesday.
Ajay stated to the police, “On August 24, at 10.08 pm, a phone call from a number was received on the mobile of MLA sir and the person disclosed his identity as Dalbir Singh of Sadhura village and disconnected call after 12 seconds. At 10.09 pm, the person called again and started abusing MLA sir and when he asked him about why he is abusing him, the person threatened of shooting the MLA. He said whenever he will meet the MLA, he and his accomplices will kill him. The person also made the MLA hear a sound of a gunshot from a rifle over the phone call and said that he and his accomplices would kill him with that rifle only. It requested to recover the rifle from accused so that he and his accomplices could not cause any harm to the MLA.”
Radaur deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Randhir Singh said, “A case of threatening Radaur MLA has been registered by name against accused Dalbir Singh, who is absconding. As of now, we cannot say about the reason behind such a threat and further facts could only be ascertained after the arrest of accused. Our teams are raiding to arrest him.”
