Representative imageAMBALA: An engineer of Military Engineering Services (MES) was robbed of his SUV, cash and jewellery at gunpoint from the parking lot of ‘NH1 Factory Stores’ on National Highway (NH) 44 under Parao police station on Monday evening.
MES civil engineer Bharat of Oshiwara district of Maharashtra posted in Delhi and residing in Sector 1, Rohtak, lodged a complaint with the Ambala police in the early hours of Tuesday alleging he and his wife were on way to Rohtak from Chandigarh in their SUV.
Bharat said, “We had come to Chandigarh for personal work in our Toyota Innova Crysta. We left for Rohtak at 2.15 pm. At about 3.30 pm, we stopped at NH1 Factory Stores showroom. At 4.50 pm, when we were about to leave in our SUV, two men opened the driver-side door and pointed a pistol at me. As we stepped out, they drove away our SUV. The purse of my wife containing Rs 1.07 lakh, a mobile phone, credit and debit cards, two gold rings, and some documents was in the SUV.” Bharat said, “The vehicle was parked in the range of a CCTV camera installed at the parking lot.”
Parao police station house officer inspector Devender Singh said a case under Sections 34 (common intention) and 392 (punishment for robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licenses) of the Arms Act was registered on Tuesday.
