2021 Lexus GX Rolls In With Modest Updates, Keeps Huge Spindle Grille

Lexus has updated the GX for the 2021 model year, introducing several new features while retaining the looks and powertrain.

The new Premium Plus package brings additional gear, like the navigation system, premium audio from Mark Levinson and third-row power seats. The heated wood-trimmed steering wheel and 18-inch silver wheels are available with the Premium and Premium Plus packages, and the three-row luxury SUV now has Amazon Alexa compatibility and acoustic front side glass on all trim levels.

The lineup still includes the base, Premium and Luxury grades, all of them retaining the 4.6-liter V8. The engine continues to pump out 301 HP (305 PS / 225 kW) and 329 lb-ft (446 Nm) of torque, providing a 6,500-pound (2,948-kg) towing capacity. The four-wheel drive system with low-range and limited-slip center differential are also included.

Introduced last year, the Off-Road Package is available on the range-topper, offering extra equipment such as Crawl Control, Panoramic View and Multi-Terrain Monitors, transmission cooler and fuel tank protector.

The Safety System+ suite of safety gear is standard on the entire Lexus lineup, and includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Intelligent High Beams.

Customers can choose between six exterior colors, named the Claret Mica, Black Onyx, Nightfall Mica, Starfire Pearl, Nebula Gray Pearl and Atomic Silver. These are complemented by four interior colors: the Sepia, Black, Ecru and Rioja Red with black headliner.

The 2021 GX 460 has a starting MSRP of $53,100, whereas the GX 460 Premium and GX 460 Luxury start from $55,890 and $64,365 respectively.
