Representative imageYAMUNANAGAR: The Yamunanagar police on Monday booked owners of two dumper trucks for failing to deposit compensatory amounts imposed, as per the National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders, for causing damage to the environment by the commission of illegal mining activities.
Inspector Om Dutt Sharma from the Haryana mines and geology department (MGD) lodged two complaints with the police in this regard. Acting on the complaints, two cases have been registered against unknown persons under the Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act at Buria police station in Yamunanagar district on Monday.
Sharma stated to the police that a special enforcement team (SET) of the MGD formed to check and stop illegal mining had confiscated two dumpers, one on December 29, 2019, and the other on January 7, 2019, in Buria area of the district.
