West Bengal reports 58 more COVID deaths, 2,964 fresh cases

- In a significant development related to the COVID-19 vaccine, Russia has expressed its willingness to the Indian government for collaboration in the manufacturing of Sputnik V vaccine (COVID-19 vaccine), a government official said on Tuesday.
- It is pertinent to note that Russia claims to have developed the first COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V, a human adenoviral vector vaccine that fights against coronavirus disease. It is developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. Last week, Russian researchers informed that presently the vaccine in phase 3 clinical trial.
American Airlines plans 19,000 furloughs, layoffs in October
American Airlines said it will cut more than 40,000 jobs, including 19,000 through furloughs and layoffs, in October as it struggles with a sharp downturn in travel because of the pandemic. Executives said the furloughs can only be avoided if the federal government gives airlines another $25 billion to help them cover labor costs for six more months.
