THANE: The cyber crime cell of Thane police is probing a case of a forged circular after a complaint was filed by an acting deputy superintendent of state excise.
It said following Covid-19, a circular was issued by the collector’s office giving permission to sell liquor online.
The state government had issued a circular for permission for online liquor sale. Permission was granted for counter-sales on August 5.
State excise officials said a WhatsApp message of a forged letter stated that online sales of liquor were cancelled by the district collector on August 5.
