Dumka: Police on Tuesday arrested one person in connection with the gang rape and murder of a 14-year-old speech and hearing-impaired girl, whose battered body was found on a government school campus at Simanpur village under Balbadda police station in Godda district on Sunday.
The accused is identified as Malik Yadav and confessed his crime to the police, saying he and his accomplice Mithun Yadav took turns to rape the girl and later killed her.
Addressing media persons, Godda SP Y S Ramesh said, “Malik has confessed and we are trying to trace Mithun. Both belonged to Simanpur village.”
He said that both the accused will be booked under stringent sections of the IPC and the Pocso Act.
According to Malik, he and Mithun intercepted the girl at an isolated place and dragged her to the nearby school building and raped her. Later, they killed her.
