Sun International, which has been heavily hit by the Covid-19 lockdown, says its earning for the six months to end of June will be severely impacted by the prolonged interruption which shut down its operations across the country.
The company, which operates accommodation establishments including the Sun City Resort, said basic earnings per share for the period would decline by more than 100% compared to the prior corresponding period.
Headline earnings per share and adjusted headline earnings per share are also set to drop by over 100%.
"The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the Group’s results for the six months ended 30 June 2020 given the closure of operations following the lockdown in March, which impacted all of the Group’s operations," the company said in a note on Tuesday.
The company is due to release its financial statement at the end of the month.
The easing of lockdown regulations under the current alert level 2 has seen some hotel slowly open for business. Sun International's Sun City Resort will open on 2 September.
