Language Curry is breaking cultural and language barriers to make India accessible to the world. Their mobile app makes Indian language learning easy, interactive and culturally relevant for expats, tourists, international students, kids, domestic migrants, NRIs, and cultural enthusiasts. They currently offer 5 Indian languages: Hindi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Kannada, and Gujarati. 


Language Curry just announced it has raised $92,000 in angel funding from Rebalance Angel Community and a clutch of angels.


Launched in 2019 by Aneesha Jyoti, Vatsala Sharma and Puneet Singh, Language Curry participated in Rebalance Accelerator’s inaugural cohort last year. 


Some of the investors who participated in this round include Rohit Chanana, Managing Partner at Sarcha Advisors, Sukhbir Singh, Bollywood Singer, Kanti Prabha, Co-founder at Sirion Labs, Lloyd Mathias, former APAC Marketing Head of HP Inc. and the Chandigarh Angel Network.

“I spent a decade in Canada and over time I realised that the Indian and non-Indian community around me was eager to learn Indian languages either for work, family, heritage, travel, or school. The existing options were either boringly academic, expensive, time-consuming or weren’t relevant to their needs - which got me thinking!” said Aneesha Jyoti, Co-Founder at Language Curry. 

When Aneesha moved back to India, she connected with Vatsala and Puneet over this common passion. They realised there are hardly any language learning apps that offer Indian languages and most importantly, do not offer any cultural context to the language. 

With approximately 100,000 downloads across 120 countries in an year  — Language Curry uniquely equips its learners with contextual, conversational language learning where the user not only learns the ‘what’ or ‘how’ of speaking Indian languages but also receives short cultural capsules that explain the ‘why’ behind it. 

82% of learners on the app love the bite-sized cultural capsules that pop up while they learn - an offering totally unique to this app.
