Former Proteas speedster Marchant de Lange stunned the cricketing world with a blistering century for Glamorgan on Monday.

In Glamorgan's second innings in their Bob Willis Trophy clash against Northamptonshire, in Northampton, the 29-year-old came in to bat at No 10 with his side in trouble at 60/8.

What followed, though, was a masterclass in hard, fearless hitting as De Lange cleared his front leg and hit the Northamptonshire bowlers to all parts.

De Lange brought up his century off just 62 balls - the fastest in Glamorgan's history - and was eventually dismissed for 113 off 78 in a knock that included six fours and nine sixes.

De Lange shared a 168-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Dan Douthwaite (86).

Heading into the match, De Lange had boasted just three fifties in first-class cricket at an average of 15.45.

De Lange has played two Tests, four ODIs and six T20Is for the Proteas.
