Contact tracing under way after Nantucket beach party

NANTUCKET — Nantucket officials are sounding the alarm over coronavirus cases connected to a party on the island.

The town health department said the beach party, which was attended by many young people, took place Aug. 17.

At least two cases are connected to the event, and contact tracing is underway, officials said.

"This type of irresponsible behavior during the pandemic threatens the relative safety our island community has enjoyed over the past six months during this public health crisis," the health department said in a statement.

Anyone who attended the party is being urged to get tested as soon as possible.
