Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe on Tuesday tested positive for the novel coronavirus.  

Tukaram Mundhe on his Twitter handle wrote, “Dear All, I have tested positive for #COVID19. I am asymptomatic and have isolated myself as per the protocol & guidelines. Request everyone who have come in my contact for last 14 days to get tested. I am Working from Home to control #pandemic situation in Nagpur. We shall win.”

Mundhe, who belongs to the 2005 batch of IAS officers is famous for his no-nonsense attitude and has often conflicted with the public legislatures at many of his postings.

From past few days, the Municipal Commissioner is continuously appealing people to take preventive measures in the backdrop of the spread of novel virus in Nagpur. Meanwhile, Nagpur Mayor Sandeep Joshi was also home quarantined recently. Nagpur is witnessing a surge in the spread of contagion and now has formed a four member committee to review the situation.
