Mysuru: Members of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Permanent and Contract Pourakarmika Association have decided to stop cleaning work across the city from Thursday and launch an indefinite protest. Their demands include payment of salary directly into their bank accounts.
Association state president M Narayana said on Monday that MCC had passed a resolution after seeking the council’s approval to deposit the salaries and wages of permanent and some selected pourakarmikas directly to their bank accounts on March 27. “Deputy commissioner Abhiram G Sankar had issued an order in this regard, but the negligent MCC is still dilly dallying to pay salaries to our bank accounts even after five months of the order being iissued,” he charged.
As per the resolution, the MCC must deposit salaries to 1,563 pourakarmikas.
He also urged the MCC to seek the council’s approval to deposit the salaries directly to the bank accounts of 231 other civic workers engaged in underground drainage work.
