Mapusa: The Aldona murder case accused has been remanded to five-day police custody by a local court on Sunday after he was produced by Mapusa police.
The accused identified as Mukesh Devsekar (46) a resident of Quitla in Aldona was arrested by police on Sunday in connection with the murder of Avinash Sankalkar (27) who is also from Quitla. Police said that a fight was reported between the accused and the deceased following which the accused hit the deceased with a stone on his head causing him serious injuries.
Police sources said that a quarrel was reported between the deceased and the accused around a year and a half ago and the matter was settled.
Police said that the deceased still had bitterness and on Saturday evening when the accused was returning home after fishing, over a minor issue, the deceased started a verbal argument and later a fight broke out. In a fit
of rage the accused hit a stone on the deceased’s head causing him serious injuries.
Following a complaint from the deceased mother, Mapusa police registered an offence under section 302 of Indian Penal code against the accused and arrested him and police are further investigating into the case.
