Kanpur: Woman converts and weds, claims threat

KANPUR: Shalini Yadav (21), a resident of Barra in the city, recorded a video after marrying her lover who belongs to another religion. In the video that later went viral on various social media on Friday, she could be seen asking for protection as she went against the will of her family.
In the video, Shalini also claimed that she had changed her name from Shalini to Fiza Fatima and married one Mohd Faisal in court on her own will on July 2 in Ghaziabad and that her family members had lodged a fake FIR against her husband. She has demanded protection as she fears threat to life from her own parents.
Shalini’s family members have lodged an FIR against her alleged husband Mohd Faisal at Kidwainagar police station accusing him of abducting her and forcibly converting her to his religion after marrying her.
Police sources said during preliminary investigations,
it came to fore that the girl had recently left her home over the pretext of appearing in some exam in Lucknow but didn’t return.
“As per the girl’s family members, one Mohd Faisal of Juhi area of the city had abducted her and forcibly converted her to his religion after marrying her.
